Hohmann & Barnard, a renowned company established in New York City in March 1933, has a rich history in the construction industry. Originally focused on manufacturing window sash weights, the company quickly adapted to the changing times and expanded its offerings.

Throughout the years, Hohmann & Barnard grew alongside the thriving New York area construction market, becoming a leading provider of masonry accessories. Hohmann & Barnard products quickly gained recognition and were utilized in numerous monumental housing projects of the 1960s, such as LeFrak City in Queens and Co-op City in the Bronx, which remains the largest cooperative housing project globally.

In the 1980s, Hohmann & Barnard emerged as the industry leader in facade anchors, offering design and fabrication services for prominent buildings such as the AT&T Headquarters (now the Sony Building) and the IBM Tower on Madison Avenue in New York City. The latter project received extensive coverage in a New York Times article.

During this period, H&B achieved significant advancements in masonry wall construction. They introduced a range of patented products that enhanced performance, simplified installation, and reduced labor costs. The company established a nationwide network of reputable distributors and expanded its global presence by undertaking major international projects, primarily in the Middle East. This continues today, with recent projects such as the Dubai International Airport.

In the early 1990s, Hohmann & Barnard experienced another wave of innovation and growth, resulting in the development of proprietary products and expanded product lines. These offerings encompass a wide range of flashings, air barriers, residential products, as well as foam and rubber solutions. Hohmann & Barnard, Inc. remains dedicated to enhancing and promoting the benefits of environmentally friendly masonry wall construction.

This dedication to quality and performance attracted the attention of Mitek Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., leading to Hohmann & Barnard's acquisition in 2008.

Over the years, Hohmann & Barnard has expanded its portfolio through strategic acquisitions. They acquired Blok-Lok, LTD., a leading Canadian manufacturer of wire reinforcement and ties for masonry, Dur-O-Wal, a pioneer in masonry reinforcement, and Sandell Industries Inc., renowned for their innovative flashings and building envelope accessories. Another component of the Sandell acquisition was Diedrich Technologies, a leader in high-performance detergent products for building restoration and maintenance. Additionally, Hohmann & Barnard purchased RKL Building Specialties Company, a manufacturer and distributor of custom stone and masonry anchors in the Northeast. These acquisitions have further strengthened Hohmann & Barnard's position as an industry leader.
